The Story
It all began when they both swiped right. Bonding over gin and tonics, it only seemed appropriate to meet for a drink. The date went better than expected, starting the countless trips between DC and Annapolis.
What began as a normal relationship - dining at Astoria, walking Ralph, drinking at the Ebb Tide - came to a halt in March 2020 with the rest of the world.
Luckily for them, this period went, for the most part, shockingly well. Spending nearly every moment together, it quickly became clear that the world would not be as fun without the other. Liam refused to give up tasty dinners and Emily refused to forego her personal bartender.
In all seriousness, Emily and Liam often call the other their perfect opposite. They just fit perfectly and cannot wait to see what the rest of their life looks like.
The Timeline
Before the first date ended, Liam wanted a second date on the books. Emily proceeded with caution, but quickly fell for him - even taking the commuter bus to Annapolis. Eventually, the two made it official. Emily’s love grew at a slightly faster rate, culminating on her birthday when Liam said, “I love you.”
It is really not fair to say it declined from there, but the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic definitely tested the pair who were not even dating a year at that point. It turned out that getting used to each other’s quirks was not that hard. In fact, noticing they actually loved being together all of the time, their love grew together. Slowly, Emily and Liam started talking about a “future,” looking at rings on Instagram, and thinking about dream honeymoon locations. Ultimately, their love peaked on July 11, 2021 when Liam got down on one knee.
The two are well aware that life will be full of challenges and speed bumps, testing their love. That is OK though, because they are in it together and there is nothing better than that.
